WALL PAINTING
Tsuru
The crane – or Tsuru – symbolises good luck and longevity in Japanese culture. I painted this wall at the entrance of future-forging digital agency circul8 to help celebrate their recent partnership with Japan Tourism. I was honoured and very grateful for the opportunity to design and hand-paint a public work at this scale – all up, a fantastic experience.

I was given a beautiful white wall as a canvas and I set myself the task of not overpainting anything in white. This, along with the fact that we had no yellow paint for corrections meant very little margin for error and some pretty canny colour blocking. The turquoise background was spray painted using cutouts of the birds, to avoid overpainting; the birds were then painted by hand using a brush.
